Getting Started with JumpBox Cloud Gear (Early Access)Using Cloud Gear is pretty easy but you have to know the basics first. Step 1: Sign Up for JumpBox Cloud GearIf you've already signed up you can skip this step. Otherwise, you need to signup for JumpBox Cloud Gear on the Amazon web site. You'll also need to create a JumpBox account if you don't already have one. It costs nothing to sign up and takes just seconds. Note: Amazon provides the EC2 service and will handle the billing for your usage of JumpBox Cloud Gear. Step 2: Watch the Getting Started videoThe video guides you through the process of launching your first Cloud Gear JumpBox on Amazon EC2. If you want to follow along you'll need to access the AWS Console (Click here to open it in a new window) We also have a web based tutorial if you prefer. Step 3: Run some JumpBoxesEverything in the library is available via Cloud Gear. During the early access period, to launch an instance you'll need to know two things about a JumpBox.
You can find this information in the JumpBox Wiki. Just click on the name of application and you'll find a detailed release history mapping JumpBox releases to application versions. There will be a Cloud Gear AMI for all releases after July 2008. Use the short name for the JumpBox in the search field of the AWS console to find all the AMIs available Note: We know this process is a bit cumbersome. This is the primary reason Cloud Gear is early access and we'll be working on this user experience over time. |
